Pros

Stable job. No lay-offs. CEO seemed to really care about employees.

Cons

Which group you work for makes a drastic difference. Unsure how the company will fare in current direction. Heavy emphasis on number based evaluation.

Pros

Company picnic (great for families with kids) Cafeterias most offices Benefits are okay New-hire training is provided and paid Small annual bonus and eventual profit sharing once employee is fully vested in the company Employees with children get a bit more flexibility to take care of their family Good maternity and okay paternity leave policies CEO Howard Messing is actually a nice guy

Cons

Programmer experience is not applicable at any other company- all coding languages are proprietary Programmers and testers are often left at standstills, as the company's proprietary languages cannot always accomplish what the staff physicians and designers desire. Development is slowed by a very understaffed and underpaid group that specializes in developing the lower level processes and available functionality of the company's languages Agile processes used here do not adhere to intended practices- programmers or testers are often left with little to no work, then scolded for not using time proactively On average 50% of day is spent in meetings that don't accomplish anything Coming in early is not acknowledged, leaving on time is discouraged, hour scheduling is very strict Working from home is only allowed once per week after 2 years of tenure and only under certain circumstances Giant management chain, over-complicated company hierarchy, lower-level employees are not always acknowledged Software is archaic and slow Company infrastructure goes down often Management cannot properly motivate workers due to company policies and structure Company policy is very old-fashioned High turnover rate due to low employee satisfaction Low salaries, low annual increase (if at all; company has not been doing well lately) No 401K Quality of office supplies and amenities has greatly declined over the past 3 years. Innovation and creativity is not encouraged or really possible

Pros

Great for college grads to start their career or career changes looking to get back into the workforce. Small team structures so you don't get lost in a large company.

Cons

Slow career growth - they have a system and were sticking to it.
