Pros

At this point there aren't many pros left. The health insurance is good but that's about it.

Cons

All of my criticisms are of the new CEO. The CEO is now Michelle O Connor. To say that upper management (CEO) is out of touch is an insult to people who are out of touch. She is on another planet. She doesn't trust any of her staff and all of her decisions reflect this. After proving that staff can work remotely and productively she chooses to force us back into offices. The only reasoning is for "community." It doesn't even matter if your entire team works in another time zone, you have to return. Gone are the days of having holidays off. These were stripped to give us more PTO. While we still get the major holidays off, fighting with your teams to get other holidays off will be a thing now. Those of us who were hired and had the paid holidays as a benefit had them removed. Salaries are WELL below industry standard. After 10 years working here, I am still 30-50k less than the industry standard. Pitiful raises and new hires coming in at slightly less than tenured staff is leading to high turnaround rates. Proprietary languages hold back talented staff. After being in the company for several years, one would have to go back and revisit other languages in order to feel comfortable applying for other positions Time tracking your EVERY move. They adopted a system called Insight (formerly "time machine" that accounts for every minute of your day. Supposedly not to nitpick everything you do, but they are definitely monitoring every minute of your day.

Pros

MEDITECH is surviving, which wasn't a certainty ten years ago. Considering the low starting salaries for greater Boston, the company tends to be less selective in who they hire compared to other employers. Even with the effect that AI is having on tech hiring.

Cons

The market was MEDITECH's to lose, and they lost it. Without HCA as a customer MEDITECH would be finished. Considerations for job applicants such as inclusiveness and work/life balance are largely irrelevant, as the company's long-term prospects for success are doubtful. MaaS subscriptions don't bring in enough money to make up for the business that was lost to market leader Epic Systems. I am a MEDITECH shareholder, so I see the financial reports. Although I'm pleased that dividends continue to be paid, they are draining the company of badly needed cash to fund a turnaround.
