Pros

Pros -No layoffs, in the company's history, since so many people happily leave. -You're paid so poorly, the company can't expect much from you. -You have health insurance while you look for something better -The parking lots are nice. -Their proprietary tech stack is so bad, ChatGPT would probably crash trying to figure it out. Therefore you won't be replaced by AI. -There's some good people here. Most people are nice since everyone knows that we're poorly paid so why make things difficult for our each other. -I got a free laptop bag. It broke. -You get a frozen turkey for Thanksgiving and a $30 gift card for Christmas. -This company is good for older people who need health insurance and want to have some human interaction.

Cons

Cons -Pay is embarrassingly low. I mean pathetically bad. Teachers get paid more. That's how bad it is. -Search for Josh Fluke Meditech on you tube. The back to work video summarizes Meditech. You'll laugh so hard you'll cry. -Management wants everyone to start going back into the office, Redux! Tried using ice cream and company swag to entice us to come in. -There's 2 different systems for time tracking. One for "punching in" like an hourly worker, the other to track every 15 minutes of your time to see what you're working on and to make sure you're productive. -You can be here for more than 15 years and your salary would be equal to an entry level position at most other companies. -This company is stuck in the 80's. It's only been a few years since they "discovered" Gmail and switched from their home grown email system called Ratmail (seriously, that's what it was called). -You're embarrassed to tell anyone you work at Meditech. You feel prouder to say you're unemployed. -Meditech has several proprietary languages. If you're stuck using them, you won't have any transferrable skills. -Every year the bonus is smaller. At this point it's a slap on the face. -It's hard to find a rating on here lower than Meditech's. 12% CEO approval. Now that's bad. How come the CEO hasn't been fired? -So many people leave you'll have to do 2+ people's work for the same terrible pay. -Raises (if they have them) are small. -Management out of touch. They probably make enough so they don't care. - No one in upper management leaves. They had to create multiple levels of VP because of this. Associate VPs, Executive VPs, regular VPs, Senior VPs. AND there's something called Senior VP Emeritus! I don't even know what that is or what they do besides collecting a fat paycheck. -Low morale, bitterness, depression, indifference. -Management likes to paint a rosy picture of how well the company is doing , how many awards they've won, until bonus/raise time. Then it's we have to cut costs and be fiscally responsible. -You get treated like you're a non-proft. That means living paycheck-to-paycheck unless you live with your parents. -If you get promoted, you won't get a raise until a year later. They want to be sure you can do the new job before they pay you a higher wage. Also, the increase in salary is very small. -CEO has town hall meetings, but never answers the tough questions. We're told the questions will be answered by the Ombudsman. They haven't answered any questions since 2021. -You want to do a good job, but feel it's not worth it. You don't feel valued. -Cost of living adjustment. Ha! At Meditech, you get what you get and you don't get upset. I think food stamps can be used to supplement the ridiculously low pay. -Mgmt will come up with ways to try and boost morale as long as it's inexpensive/free. -After many years the company finally got a 401k plan. They don't do any matching. Unless you're management, you're paid so little you can't contribute to it anyway.

Pros

MEDITECH is surviving, which wasn't a certainty ten years ago. Considering the low starting salaries for greater Boston, the company tends to be less selective in who they hire compared to other employers. Even with the effect that AI is having on tech hiring.

Cons

The market was MEDITECH's to lose, and they lost it. Without HCA as a customer MEDITECH would be finished. Considerations for job applicants such as inclusiveness and work/life balance are largely irrelevant, as the company's long-term prospects for success are doubtful. MaaS subscriptions don't bring in enough money to make up for the business that was lost to market leader Epic Systems. I am a MEDITECH shareholder, so I see the financial reports. Although I'm pleased that dividends continue to be paid, they are draining the company of badly needed cash to fund a turnaround.
