Pros

1)Benefits are untouchable by any other company. The is 90% paid Blue Cross medical, dental, and vision, gym facility, discount lunches, free coffee, tea, and soft drinks, discount dry cleaning, etc.. 2)Most of the facilities have a lot of young professionals so the atmosphere tends to be very laid back and social. 3)Time off/Vacation is usually approved 4)The experience will get you a dream job with dream salary

Cons

1)Because they on hire internally you will start at the bottom of the barrell at an entry level position, which is not ideal for anyone who has a grad degree or has 5+ years experience. The reasoning is that most employees who have a senior level position never leave and thus you will never move up in the company. Also, just because someone has a moved to senior level position doesnt mean they are fit to manage...they may know the software very well, but have not capability of using effective managerial skills to motivate and train employees well. 2)Entry level = the most embarassing salary I've ever had. I am completely insulted by their offer, which is non negotiable. 3)Sometimes the social factor will backfire on employees. Try not to get caught up the "Meditech" lifestyle, because it will easily consume you. Everything about your life will change as far as friends you hang out with, possible romantic relationships, your scedule for personal life. Things like this will bring out rumors and other drama in the work place. I dont know from personal experience, but Ive seen it happen. 4)Training process is boring at first and then it will hit you like a lead brick. Also, those who train you can be quite cocky and intimidating when trying to relay the information back.

Pros

MEDITECH is surviving, which wasn't a certainty ten years ago. Considering the low starting salaries for greater Boston, the company tends to be less selective in who they hire compared to other employers. Even with the effect that AI is having on tech hiring.

Cons

The market was MEDITECH's to lose, and they lost it. Without HCA as a customer MEDITECH would be finished. Considerations for job applicants such as inclusiveness and work/life balance are largely irrelevant, as the company's long-term prospects for success are doubtful. MaaS subscriptions don't bring in enough money to make up for the business that was lost to market leader Epic Systems. I am a MEDITECH shareholder, so I see the financial reports. Although I'm pleased that dividends continue to be paid, they are draining the company of badly needed cash to fund a turnaround.
