Pros

Challenging work with meaningful real-world impact. As a Staff Engineer working on AI initiatives, I get exposure to projects that influence a large portion of the organization. The work is demanding, but it’s genuinely rewarding knowing we are helping people navigate difficult situations and access disability benefits. There’s a strong collaborative atmosphere with diverse perspectives, and the tech org encourages thoughtful discussion rather than rigid top-down direction. There’s also plenty of room to explore new ideas, experiment with technologies, and move quickly without excessive process overhead.

Cons

The pace and expectations can be high, which may not suit everyone. There’s a lot of work to be done, and priorities can shift quickly given the impact of the projects. While the flexibility and “green space” are positives, they can sometimes require individuals to be more self-directed and proactive than they might be used to. This environment rewards ownership, but that can feel intense for those who prefer more structure.

Pros

Mindset's mission statement and core values are meaningful and shared by the entire company, which means that where there is empathy and support for clients, there is equal empathy and support for other team members. This translates to meaningful growth opportunities, generous PTO/sick leave/bereavement leave, healthcare coverage, flexibility day-to-day, and clear communication & support from management.

Pros

- mostly independent work with a lot of support from Sam and the leads - workflow setup allows for great work life balance - training is straightforward and doesn’t drag on - despite everyone being remote there is great collaboration among the team - meetings twice a week are a nice way to voice concerns and get everyone on the same page

Cons

- having to be available for incoming calls for most of the day makes it very difficult to focus on and complete tasks in a timely manner - the admin site can appear disorganized and hard to read - multiple points of contact by which clients can reach us is overwhelming - definitely not an entry level position, which is made pretty clear by the interview questions
