Pros

The future looks promising and the owner and CFO are very involved and great to work with. The work itself is interesting from a finance persepctive. Also conveniently located.

Cons

The finance department is understaffed leading to minimum 10 hour days without breaks and often unrealistic timelines. Little guidance or support for new employees as no one has time to do so without scheduling a meeting which is infrequent. Difficult personalities.

Mitchell Martin Response

Response posted by Joseph Schimpf, CFO: First, I want to thank you for taking the time to review MMI on Glassdoor. We are very busy; however, we perceive that as a good thing! Mitchell Martin has grown significantly over the past five years and expects that growth to continue. Bringing you onto the Finance Team was the first of multiple steps to bolster our back-office operations. You are correct; currently, the staff does put in extra hours in order get the work done. However, this was explained during the interview process; we were 100% upfront that we needed some extra effort to get to where we need to be. In addition to the spot you vacated, we have added headcount to the team and identified a new hire who is scheduled to start shortly. We are also looking at adding other resources to supplement the NY based staff. In addition to increasing staff levels in 2017, we are migrating to a new financial software platform that will help gain efficiencies and improve productivity. We were saddened to see you leave MMI; had you stayed the course at MMI, we believe you would have seen a dynamic, innovative, entrepreneurial company that is willing to provide support to our employees and reward those that make the extra effort. Nonetheless, we wish you much success in your future endeavors. I also want to point out that MMI has won numerous Industry awards over the years such as “2016 Award for Best Staffing Firm to Work For”.

Pros

Mitchell Martin has strong client relationships with some huge companies and a solid reputation in the staffing industry, which helps create meaningful opportunities. Employees are exposed to a wide range of industries and technologies, making it a good place to build diverse experience. The fast-paced environment helps develop resilience and sharpens both sales and recruiting skills. There is relatively easy access to leadership due to a flatter organizational structure. You also gain hands-on experience with full-cycle recruiting and business development. The level of tenure within this business speaks for itself, an employee owended staffing company that is 43 years old doesn't get there by accident.

Pros

Competitive compensation aligned with market rates.

Cons

Limited communication and support when my contract was ending. I reached out regarding future opportunities but responses were slow, if any. Not much assistance was provided in finding a new assignment after my contract ended. Now I’m without a job. No income.
