Pros

- More options for diagnostics such as ultrasonagraphy, in-house labwork, digital radiography including dental - Hospital policies encourage health screenings to allow for early intervention procedures - Up to date vaccination policies - Relief veterinarian pay is excellent

Cons

- Prices tend to run higher than a local clinic - Hospital policies make it difficult to accommodate lower income clients - Managers tend to be more concerned with making money than acting as a hospital (to a degree that some vets may find immoral) - Full-time veterinarians tend to get a raw deal on their contracts

Pros

Helps the hospital afford things such as advanced monitoring equipment

Cons

Took away all part time employees benefits such as pto, sick time, and holiday pay. They tried to “smooth it over” by doing a calculation based on how much you worked the past two years that decides how much of a “bonus” you get every 6 months to make up for taking away our pto, sick time and holiday pay. It’s been 7 months and we have yet to receive that. Also this is only for 2 years and then after that you’re SOL.
