Pros

Able to offer better insurance than privately owned practice

Cons

NVA told us when they bought us that things would stay similar, we’d be able to practice the same way, but they lied. Things stayed the same for a few years but they have become money hungry corporate demons. They do price increases for our clients 3x a year and have quickly made things so expensive that people can’t afford to treat their pets. We have long surpassed “inflation” with our prices. The higher ups are so out of touch with reality, they have no idea what it’s like to be in a clinic. They are now going to force us to use their online pharmacy ONLY, which is buggy and never working, and the prices are not always the cheapest option for clients. They shut down 3rd party pharmacy portals. This means that some of our clients won’t be able to afford meds they would normally get at Chewy/etc. Bottom line: we at the clinic ALL got into vet med because we want to help clients and their pets. NVA only cares about money, they don’t care if what they do means that someone’s pet will not be treated because they can’t afford it. NVA does not care about clients, pets, or their employees. They treat us like garbage and never allow us to get a significant raise or have team bonding outings even though they continue to raise prices that line their purses. Funny how when we were privately owned, our boss could find a way to give us raises and take care of us and make us feel valued, but this big corporation won’t spend a dime. I only stay at this job out of obligation and love for the former owner and the great people I work with. NVA should have never gotten their grubby hands on this hospital. They’re ruining it day by day and they don’t deserve to own such an amazing practice.

Pros

Helps the hospital afford things such as advanced monitoring equipment

Cons

Took away all part time employees benefits such as pto, sick time, and holiday pay. They tried to “smooth it over” by doing a calculation based on how much you worked the past two years that decides how much of a “bonus” you get every 6 months to make up for taking away our pto, sick time and holiday pay. It’s been 7 months and we have yet to receive that. Also this is only for 2 years and then after that you’re SOL.
