Pros

- Extremely talented and passionate people - Dogs - Food - Ability to make change --- if you are friends with the right people - Work Life Balance

Cons

- President is running this company into the ground - EC team can't consistently come to a consensus on what plagues the company - Turning into a churn and burn shop (tech agnostic company that can't sell enough to keep everyone business) which results in lay offs - Previously was the best place in the world for nerds to work. Which meant, we are cool so we will pay you less. But now it isn't cool and you get paid less. - CEO / founders are figure heads - People are not held to expectations

This is Tom O’Neill. I’m usually my own worst critic but you’ve one-upped me here – that was a good one. Your perceptions of the issues in our organization are fair – the challenges of our business model and growth are hard to ignore. I couldn't agree more that our people are extremely talented and passionate. I'd credit all of our success over the past eleven years to one thing: our ability to surround ourselves with people smarter and more capable than I am, and positioning them to succeed. We’ll keep doing that, and if I can count you among those talented and passionate people, I hope to rebuild your trust in the future of our organization. Please consider it an open invitation to check my calendar for a time to talk in person. Getting my attention may not have been your intent in posting this, but you have it now. I hope this leads to conversation with you, and welcome your constructive criticism. Your Co-President, Tom O'Neill

Pros

One of my favorite things about working at Nerdery was how my job was different every day, kept me in my toes and kept my skills fresh and current.

Cons

Some of the departments lacked clear direction.

Pros

- Actual client work is fun and we don't typically work with clients who are really aggressive with consultants. - Still have the opportunity to be remote

Cons

- Leadership is poor and consistently reactive. - There has been no real plan to improve the sales pipeline for nearly 3 years, but don't worry the man responsible for that failure was recently hired as a CEO elsewhere. - Layoffs happen, but there are examples where Nerdery leadership laid off employees who asked difficult questions or challenged leadership's ideas (e.g., retaliation). - We no longer have domain experts. Instead leadership is an account executive with an inflated title who might be pleasant, but doesn't actually have the expertise to improve the work. - Benefits were good when I started and now they are abysmal.
