Pros

- Actual client work is fun and we don't typically work with clients who are really aggressive with consultants. - Still have the opportunity to be remote

Cons

- Leadership is poor and consistently reactive. - There has been no real plan to improve the sales pipeline for nearly 3 years, but don't worry the man responsible for that failure was recently hired as a CEO elsewhere. - Layoffs happen, but there are examples where Nerdery leadership laid off employees who asked difficult questions or challenged leadership's ideas (e.g., retaliation). - We no longer have domain experts. Instead leadership is an account executive with an inflated title who might be pleasant, but doesn't actually have the expertise to improve the work. - Benefits were good when I started and now they are abysmal.

Pros

- Work live balance - Diversity and inclusion - Great designers and developers - Unlimited PO (but not really)

Cons

- Leadership lacks expertise and consistency, resulting in decisions that often feel misaligned with both team needs and client expectations. - The management structure is odd. Account managers are tasked with overseeing the entire delivery team — designers, engineers, PMs, and POs — which creates confusion, friction, and widespread dissatisfaction. - The absence of a VP of Product leaves Product Managers working in isolation, with little cross-team collaboration or knowledge sharing. - The sales pipeline has weakened significantly, leading to recurring layoffs. If you’re not staffed on a project within six weeks, you’re automatically let go. Many talented people have been laid off or have left on their own. - New “pilot” projects are consistently under-resourced. To cut costs, leadership avoids assigning a dedicated product manager and expects designers and developers to absorb PO responsibilities. This results in disorganization, unclear direction, and a poor impression with clients.
