Focus is on culture - bully culture - TSE NetApp Employee Review

Pros

The first month and that's it

Cons

This is one of the most toxic work environments you will ever come across. It's all down to management. If you are a bit different, you will be in trouble. Team managers despise each other, constantly bad mouthing to those who report to them and sharing their own contempt of their reports amongst each other. Discriminatory language is acceptable in their view and being former TSEs, the team managers believe that they know a lot more than the Escalation Engineers (who run the departments better, and have even more contempt for the management who seem to think that they're best friends). Senior management walk on a cloud completely oblivious to what is going on under them. They do know that there is bullying and discrimination going on but their response? "Well, what can you do?" or "maybe you can write this down and mail it" Regular job losses are followed up with a pathetic team-bonding exercise and the promise that it won't happen again. When the next round of job losses occurs then "it's never the same as the last time". Salary is poor, raises are equally poor. The workplace itself is as ugly as the behaviour of those supposed to be running things.

Pros

Amongst the top companies in the data storage industry = company stability.

Cons

If you'd ask me a year or 2 ago, I would have given the company 5 stars. But, as with most tech companies now, they've started to follow the trend of return to office, regardless of logic. There's little to no room for exceptions and the company would rather sacrifice productivity regardless if they know the hardships for people living in metros (one way commute to the NY or SJC office can take 2 hours one way!) - that and there's no commuter benefits. You have to pay out of pocket and live in fear of not receiving your bonus if you miss the "thrive together" quarterly requirements.
