Pros

Great benefits. Encouraging collaborative atmosphere. Project managers listen to developers' suggestions. Approachable and friendly leadership. Using bonus.ly, allowing people to give frequent public recognition to coworkers.

Cons

Two layoffs within just a few months. Among the people laid off there were no VPs/above and few managers. Layoff also coincided with hiring a new co-president, making the company even more top heavy. Layoffs are not well managed.

It’s great to hear you had such a collaborative experience here at Nextbite, and we appreciate the detailed feedback. This has been a difficult couple of months for start-ups at our stage needing to adjust to the new realities of the market. Unfortunately these adjustments translate into very real layoffs that affect many people in different ways. We have always done our best to prioritize more personal, smaller conversations, and make any exit as dignified as possible given the circumstances. We wholeheartedly agree - it can also be challenging for remaining teams to jump back into work. In the days following the layoff, Leaders prioritized re-grouping with teams and we held a company-wide optional workshop called Managing & Adapting to Change. We did this to acknowledge the very human response to change and how to cope. We know it takes time to bounce back from changes like this, and yet we must also find a way to continue serving our customers. We see our responsibility as ensuring the health of the team so this great work can continue, as well as doing whatever is in our power to make meaningful connections for those we had to say goodbye to in the layoff. -Alex Canter
