Pros

Those are the taglines stuck in my head now. Apart from this- nothing much positive to say except: *meet really great colleagues/ability to form a community with others *meaningful work as always when you help students *work from home *space to practice your skills -I'm personally more about people than the impressive stats, so I humbly accept my sudden yet expected termination.-

Cons

*optimizes humans for maximum productivity with little concern for those who may have different issues that contribute to times of inconsistency *you must have other means of providing for yourself as there is a lot of unpredictability in even getting the hours you want *you are expected to be fully consistent when a lot of things with this company are highly inconsistent and things varies vastly from week to week and month to month *inconsistent hours- you will at least get one single 4 hour shift during the whole school year as a part timer *mostly a no questions asked workspace policy when it comes to random coworkers disappearing from the workspace- it's only when you speak to those individuals that you get further facts on what happens to contribute to their accounts being deactivated suddenly *not allowed to criticize the company internally or your post is removed and you end up eventually fired in most cases *not really 1:1 as deceptively advertised *individual tutors in live chat often can have 8 students in the classroom all at once (a few have mentioned even 10 at a time) *at times underscheduling leads to last minute rushes to get new tutors added to the schedule--- these are surges and there are surge bonuses per the minute that additional students are in the classroom *high turnover and very easily replaceable to the company *expects full loyalty when they aren't loyal to people who have been there since Gradeslam days *lack of immobility for most although you are told there is room for advancement *internal interviewing and dismissal process can be more humane (i used to recommend this as a place for new people to work but now i'm putting 1 star for everything. if the cons are fine with you, definitely be prepared for the hunger games)

Pros

Real remote flexibility here. They are embracing the technology we have to ensure our work life balance remains a high priority. You're trusted to manage your own time and get the job done without constant oversight. The bigger story though is the turnaround over the last year and a half. The new leadership has turned the ship around... before it fell off the map. The mission is clear now, and there's real room to help shape how we get there rather than crossing our fingers, closing our eyes, and hoping for the least worst.

Cons

Leadership communication is where things fall a bit short. We get the monthly all-hands and then... radio silence. I get it, priorities compete and there's a lot on their plate. But when the crew is the one actually rowing the boat, it helps to hear from the captain more than once a month. The occasional engagement via Slack, a little more visibility in between the big meetings would go a long way toward keeping everyone rowing in the same direction. We're all in this together - it's helpful to be reminded why a bit more often.
