Pros

It started out with promise.

Cons

I had the unfortunate experience of working at Paper for a brief period, and it was nothing short of a nightmare. From the very first day, it was evident that this organization was plagued with a host of issues that stemmed directly from its poor management. One of the most glaring problems at Paper was the constant firings and layoffs. It seemed as though the management had no clear understanding of how to run a successful business, resulting in a revolving door of employees. It created an atmosphere of uncertainty and fear, as no one knew if they would be the next victim of the management's misguided decisions. This constant state of flux severely impacted morale and productivity, leading to a toxic work environment. Immaturity seemed to be a prerequisite for becoming a manager at Paper. The lack of professionalism and emotional intelligence among the managers was baffling. They would often resort to petty office politics, favoritism, and micromanagement, which further eroded trust and respect within the organization. It was like watching a group of high school students trying to run a company, and the consequences were disastrous. Moreover, the company's lack of vision was palpable. There was no clear direction or long-term strategy in place. Decisions were made impulsively, without any consideration for the potential consequences. It was evident that the management lacked the ability to plan for the future and take the necessary steps to ensure the company's success. As an employee, I couldn't help but feel hopeless about the future of Paper. The lack of foresight and proper leadership left me with no confidence in the organization's ability to survive, let alone thrive, in the competitive market. It was clear that the company was heading towards an inevitable downfall, and it was only a matter of time before it would crumble under the weight of its own mismanagement. In conclusion, I cannot express enough how much I would advise against working at Paper. It is a sinking ship, and any association with it will likely lead to disappointment, frustration, and a serious blow to one's professional growth. The poor management, constant firings, immature managers, lack of vision, and absence of a foreseeable future make it a company to steer far away from. Save yourself the trouble and seek opportunities elsewhere, where your skills and talents can be appreciated and nurtured in a conducive and stable environment.

Pros

Real remote flexibility here. They are embracing the technology we have to ensure our work life balance remains a high priority. You're trusted to manage your own time and get the job done without constant oversight. The bigger story though is the turnaround over the last year and a half. The new leadership has turned the ship around... before it fell off the map. The mission is clear now, and there's real room to help shape how we get there rather than crossing our fingers, closing our eyes, and hoping for the least worst.

Cons

Leadership communication is where things fall a bit short. We get the monthly all-hands and then... radio silence. I get it, priorities compete and there's a lot on their plate. But when the crew is the one actually rowing the boat, it helps to hear from the captain more than once a month. The occasional engagement via Slack, a little more visibility in between the big meetings would go a long way toward keeping everyone rowing in the same direction. We're all in this together - it's helpful to be reminded why a bit more often.
