Pros
- Flexible hours - Interview process almost nonexistent - Learn a lot about your community
Cons
- Low job security. As a "contributor" you are simply a freelancer who can be tossed aside at any time. My pay decreased by 150% over the course of a year, and quite suddenly, the upper management told us that we would simply be given significantly less work. This cap on how much we could do definitely forced a lot of contributors to quit all together. - Lack of work community. Editors simply don't care about freelancers as they aren't tied down to any physical meeting place where you can engage them in 1:1 discussions. Because of the online-only relationship between contributors and their supervisors, it's hard to feel like anything but strangers, even after a very long period of time.
