Pros

When I saw the ad for this job I thought it was a scam at first, turns out it's not. It's easily the best job I've had. My favorite part of the job is working with all of the amazing people. Normally I avoid joining management with most companies, but there's a very supportive atmosphere that I haven't experienced anywhere else. I've made so many friends, and even before I joined management they were very receptive to keeping a fun company culture. I'm not used to having friends at work, so it's a pleasant surprise! Another favorite part is that if someone has a great idea, it doesn't matter if they're entry level. Ideas are assessed reasonably, and the company is evolving very quickly to accommodate the rapid growth. I enjoy the bonuses, and the consistently helpful feedback I have received. I genuinely feel like being in this company has made me a better person even outside of work hours. The company actually values their employees, and they keep the pay competitive for the work that is needed. They also aren't interested in people working themselves to the bone. Working smarter not harder is really a huge part of being successful in Pirate Ship.

Cons

The work is very fast paced. I enjoy that, but not everyone does. Growing pains means that processes can suddenly need to be changed, and that can be frustrating at times. This is an all fully remote position. So if you're more of an office person this wouldn't be great. You have to be able to type accurately and quickly. It helps immensely to have a stable home internet connection.

Pros

Work from home, benefits package, and a fun exciting culture.

Cons

Leadership's communication could be vastly improved. Announcements that affect employees in a huge way are generally made at the very last moment, which does tend to cause friction. HR has also had multiple "oversights" on paying people for extra hours/OT and also double pay for working holidays. How many times can it just be an "oversight" before it feels like the company is just trying not to pay you correctly? HR is also never the one to catch this, so double checking your paystubs has to be a routine to make sure you're paid accurately.
