Pros

Internal promotion-I started as a management trainee in 1995 and worked my way up over the last 20 years. Tuition reimbursement-The company paid for me to go back to school and get my MBA while working full time at the University of New Mexico. Hands-on management from the owner-Dan Clark (second generation) is active on a daily basis in the basis; from running routes, to customer visits, to plant operational reviews Dan is working somewhere in his business every day. In addition, the third generation is also actively working in the business as an operations manager. Paid holidays, vacation, sick time, 401 K + 401K matching AND profit sharing, debt free, open door access and visibility to top executives, large majority of managers are internal promotions. There are a LOT of pros.

Cons

Having been in business since 1932 and in a very bricks and mortar industry the company is not always quick to adapt the newest technology or change its methods of operation.

Pros

One of the company’s strongest qualities is its clear commitment to employee well-being. From a corporate perspective, there appears to be a genuine effort to support employees not only professionally, but also personally. The company promotes a positive work environment where employees feel valued, respected, and supported. This focus on people helps build stronger morale, encourages teamwork, and creates a culture where employees are motivated to contribute and grow within the organization.

Cons

“While the company demonstrates a strong commitment to employee well-being at the corporate level, there are opportunities for improvement within some plant-level operations. Communication between corporate leadership and local management can at times feel disconnected, and employees may feel hesitant to openly share concerns or feedback due to fear of retaliation from certain managers. Additionally, compensation does not always align with current industry standards, which can impact employee morale and retention. Despite these concerns, the company’s benefits package remains one of its strongest assets and is a key reason many employees continue to stay committed to the organization.”
