Pros

I learned several things I can use in future jobs. Management skills. Training skills. Requirements needed to be an efficient and productive superintendent. Knowledge of manning, writing letters, balancing the vessel, making splits, relationship building with some of the toughest longshore labor on the west coast. Use and knowledge of the contract. Tricks of the trade learned from experienced foreman that can be directed when working with X-hall bosses. What each working positions job consist of so you can determine the quality of their work.(clerks, foreman, top handlers, tractors, crane operators, signal men, dock men, pin men, lashers,)

Cons

They just had a hard time listening to employees. And a high turn around rate of superintendents due to the labor and hours.
