Pros

Overall a solid company to work for. There's the potential for a yearly bonus based on the company's performance that year.

Cons

They love hiring from within. Not so much because they want to help employees advance their career, but because they believe they can offer below market rate for the position, and people will still accept the job. There is reportedly a cap on pay increases for internal promotions, though I can't confirm that 100% across all business areas. But basically, if you're in a lower paying hourly job and get promoted to a higher level supervisor or manager position, they'll only offer you 15-20% above your current pay, even if that's tens of thousands below the minimum salary range that HR has set for the higher position. Salaries are competitive with the other small pari-mutuel operators in the area, but not against other larger gaming companies.

Pros

The company has a genuinely good mission and the core team is passionate about what they do. I had the opportunity to grow beyond my original role — starting in Customer Care Operations and moving into Revenue and Quality support — which showed that the company recognized talent and was willing to invest in people. The work itself was meaningful and I learned a lot across different functions.

Cons

The experience shifted significantly when new leadership came in. The management style changed and it created an uncomfortable dynamic that affected team morale. I felt that some decisions were personal rather than performance-based, which was discouraging given the effort I had put in. The layoffs also raised questions about long-term stability and how people are valued when priorities change.
