Pros

The size of the company will allow advancement if you work hard. Decent 401K match but no pension and very high medical insurance deductibles. A good yearly bonus if the company does well. Great technology - systems and applications. Offer many training opportunities. Very nice job performance review program. Nice on campus amenities.

Cons

Long hours and the pay for claims only recently came close to industry standard in the last two years. There is zero diversity on the board and upper and executive management. While there are many mid-level female managers and a few female directors - the companies senior executive management looks like and functions like a golf country club - white male dominant. They talk D and I, but the company doesn’t attract people of color or various ethnicities. Some of this is due to the local population lacking in any diversity. Workloads are crazy and never consistent. You will work long hours to keep up and have difficulty with work life balance if you want to do an excellent job. Pay raises and salaries are controlled by fair market pricing and leaves management little to no room to adjust salaries of long term associates to the level of pay of a new associate. But the salary is very good if you live in Stevens Point. No pension plan. Other competitive carriers still have pensions, are more diversified. Sentry is a good community steward but it appears as if the community is put before employees. You will also work in an office three days a week - but inconsistent exceptions can be made. Claims specifically, is tough with a high degree of micro management. Technical and soft skill training is required and it’s quality training. However, it’s difficult to fully engage in training while you stress about the amount of work you’re not getting done. If you stick it out you will likely advance. If you like to live in a small town - it’s great.

Pros

Multiple office locations across the country Hybrid system for those that like to be in office

Cons

Poor communication Low pay compared to other industry positions Software is old and outdated Positions that are typically salary are hourly based Most "surveys" to gauge employee sentiment are constructed in such a way that no negative feedback can be left Hybrid or in office is required, no option for full remote If you happen to be full remote, there is no upward mobility possible for you, period. Excessive workload Not very good benefits

Thank you for your feedback. We understand that workloads can fluctuate from time to time and encourage our associates to have conversations with their leadership teams for support. Our organization regularly reviews market rates to ensure our compensation rates are competitive. We also strive to offer work life balance along with growth opportunities. We believe our hybrid model is the right blend of at-home days to support flexibility, and in-office days to support team collaboration. Regarding your other comments, we take feedback like this seriously, and I encourage you to reach out to me or another supervisor to discuss your concerns further.
