Disorganized, Disconnected Leadership - Anonymous employee ServiceSource (Virginia) Employee Review

Pros

The mission of ServiceSource and the individuals employed/supported are the strongest pros.

Cons

While there are select high-level leaders that are invested in the success of the organization, nurturing staff growth, and serving the community, many individuals are completely disconnected--this became evident with the retirement of CEO Janet Samuelson in 2019. As an example, when identifying individuals of promise for a mentoring program, an Executive referred to a high scoring candidate as a "wet blanket" and declined to invite her to participate despite years of dedicated service--not even considering the diversity and skills this person brought to the program. I was also reprimanded while quietly assisting an individual who is blind at an event while the program was happening. When I explained that I was assisting an individual, I was told "it didn't matter, nobody should be speaking when [CEO] is speaking." ServiceSource lacks mature, emotionally stable leadership who are genuinely invested in employee success.

Pros

Steady work Decent management Good benefits Funny conversations

Cons

Below market wages. Expect to get underpaid. Below market wages attract low quality employees. Easy to see who do all the work and who collects a check. Alot of drama. No yearly raises, no vacation time for first year, and a lack of benefits you see at bigger companies. Promotions are few and far between, management will lie to you about future growth to keep you on board. External hiring instead of building internal employees is an issue I seen here. Employee favoritism is also an issue I noticed. Some managers will treat you like a child. Communication issues, somewhat inefficient. I do not recommend this company if you are anything except out of high-school. A complete non starter for young professionals.
