Pros

I get to work remotely

Cons

From the outside looking in, the Smile Brands Recruiting team appears to be a great place to work. After joining, you will experience a different reality. The new mgmt they brought in has zero industry knowledge, they are not warm, empathetic, or relatable, do not prioritize their team, show favoritism, and the list goes on. We are asked to leave positive reviews to help with company recruiting but they should just treat everyone better and that would fix the problem. It is clear that we are all just a number since they constantly tell us that other DSOs are hiring if we voice concerns about anything. There have been so many people that have left that were with the company for years and mgmt still do not think they are the problem. The culture is broken and there are so many afraid to speak up because nothing has been done when others have spoken up previously. No one wants to put a target on their back.

Pros

Work from home provided flexibility, eliminated commuting time, and reduced daily expenses. Steady, predictable workload with clear procedures and expectations. Regular exposure to healthcare operations improved familiarity with insurance verification, scheduling, and patient communication. Developed strong customer service skills, especially de-escalation, empathy, and clear explanation of complex information. Consistent hours and structure supported routine and reliability.

Cons

High call volume and back-to-back interactions could be mentally draining. Strict metrics and performance monitoring. Repetitive nature of calls offered little variety or creative problem-solving. Emotional labor was significant when handling frustrated or anxious patients. Career advancement opportunities within the role itself were limited.

Pros

Dental coverage is good. They definitely take care of your smile. However it has to be within their clinics. If you need a speciality provider for let’s say extractions- good luck. You’ll be going outside and paying full out of pocket

Cons

Extremely disorganized, zero communication from upper management unless they need something from you, no guidance, policies are lacking to help you navigate through a system. Messy messy messy. Did I mention terrible communication? Pay is very low. Benefits: Health insurance is terrible. They almost cut your HSA match in half. They do not match your 401k Short/long term disability is out of YOUR pocket. PTO? Good luck. Very little offered, and it doesn’t grow much while you put your years in. Most staff have to use it towards holidays. You will be overworked.
