Pros
Work from home- Benefits and stock options- Paid training- excellent GUI work environment- People are advancing in the company. Three of my assistant trainers were in Supervisor training after less than two years of starting at entry level. Seriously, it's a pretty good deal to work from home. While the wages are regional and typically lower than they should be, you are compensated for the use of your computer and the web connection. That payment is untaxed of course and adds up to around $35 a week. The training is adequate to take a complete novice to IT and have them successfully taking calls within a month. If you are experienced, you will be bored during most of the class.
Cons
Metrics are typically set high- Absenteeism during training is forbidden. If you are tardy twice for more than 15 min you will be terminated. After you are trained it's little better.- Training is broken due to evolving support tech responsibilities. Frequently the training materials are outdated and the trainer notes this as you train. No real simulations in training. You learn on the apps you will be using so consequently, you can't practice much of what you will be doing because it's live- Support techs will have sales metrics added soon. If your web connection isn't reliable, do yourself a favor and get a different job. There are no acceptable excuses to miss work without a certain amount of preplanning and jumping through hoops. If you are like me, you don't miss work except for life catastrophes and there will be no mercy from SDC. You only matter to this company if you keep your metrics high period and even then you can get canned for some things as fast as anybody. High turnover is an opportunity as long as it isn't you getting turned over :)
