Pros

If you can work hard they pay well.

Cons

They pay well, IF they pay you! I didn’t get paid my next check and may not be getting paid for a few weeks. I brought it up to them and the fact that without the money I am owed that I may not be able to afford to come into work as the money I need to pay for the gas to be able to make it into work hasn’t been paid. I am a very hard worker and even when my car broke down I came in by bus. Which from where I live it takes 3 hours to get there by bus and 2 hours back since traffic is better at that hour. Sysco knows that I have had to do this and they do not care that I have gone through such extreme measures to keep working. If they inconvenience you then you have to figure it out but if they inconvenience you even up to not paying you then it’s still on you. I may even be fired if I can’t sell enough of my stuff to be able to afford the gas to get to work today so regardless of if I can or can not I am looking for another job. Oh also they’ll treat you this way even if you’ve been there for 20+ years

Pros

You can make money but it all depends on the orders you get, how fast you can go, how long you can maintain that pace without getting burned out. Definitely a young mans sport, as the do refer to you as "industrial athletes."

Cons

Like many industries the hours can be long. For the ones who don't make much on running above rate then you can make up for it in hours. If you soak the hours and run you can definitely make some big money. The turn over rate is extremely high there, even in management. I used to be proud of the union but the teamsters in Cleveland are completely worthless, I would bet they are getting paid under the table to not fight for contract negotiations. When I was there the contract expired and they barely fought for anything, on voting day they literally said they wont back us up if we don't pass this contract....so consider that when you want to work for this place. Also the equipment is so old and broken that people were taking the scanners home just so they could have a good one for the next night.
