Not a Good Place to Work Anymore - Principal Software Engineer Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions Employee Review

Pros

You might get to work with the few good people that are left. There are plenty of open offices and parking spaces. Plenty of work. If you are lucky enough to get a good manager, you may not hate your job too much.

Cons

Upper management will micromanage every aspect of your work. If you fail, it is your fault. If you somehow manage to succeed, they will take all the credit. Even the new generation products are using technologies and frameworks that are quickly becoming outdated. Based on the rate of attrition, the people that are left, are having to do more and more work. Working remotely is frowned upon.

Pros

The people I worked with were talented, hardworking, and genuinely cared about delivering for customers. There were opportunities to work on large, complex retail transformation programs and gain exposure to global teams and enterprise-scale initiatives. Many individual contributors went above and beyond to support each other despite challenging circumstances.

Cons

In my experience, the recent changes in Delivery leadership have resulted in significant instability, inconsistent direction, and an increasingly unprofessional work environment. Teams were expected to continually adapt to shifting priorities and unrealistic expectations, creating unnecessary chaos and frustration. Rather than fostering collaboration and trust, the culture became reactive, with low morale, increasing burnout, and the loss of experienced employees. It became difficult to focus on delivering quality work when so much energy was spent navigating leadership challenges.
