Pros
Static sales- not the peaks and valleys of normal retailers who run ads. The company has tried to make significant changes in the layout of their stores, but this has done little to increase sales. Margins were high, but this is being eroded away as Babies tries to compete with the Targets and others of this speciality category. Products offered are kept up to date, but warehouse can not supply stores in a consistent manner. Training and onboarding of new employees is not well thought out- they try, but it is confusing and not well executed. Typically a 45-50 hour week.
Cons
Micro-managed/very little room for thought or creativity. Very high turnover with associates throughout chain. No advancement possible for assistant managers as there are few locations so morale is low and turnover high for assistants. Panic has set in at corporate as their competitors gradually take market share so there is a lot of initiatives that are not well planned out and too many coming down the pipeline at once. There is an unhealthy focus on keeping everyone in the stores happy which makes it extremely difficult to manage for fear of "upsetting" an associate, manager, supervisor, etc. R us organization is just getting by
