There were issues with division of labor and decisions involving leadership and promotions. - Customer Service Representative Toys "R" Us Employee Review

Pros

There was a fair amount of freedom as far as what you would do during a shift as long as you got your tasks done. Also a good amount of opportunity to establish rapport with customers and have a positive effect on them.

Cons

Management and promotions were based on cronyism rather than merit (i.e. promoting friends and "yes men" rather than the people who are beneficial to the store). Some people, particularly managers and supervisors, could relax and avoid work their whole shift, while others, such as customer service and back-of-house were swarmed with work their entire shift. The cashiering business has the worst parts of sales and retail attached, as cashiers are swamped by customers yet have to make sales pitches for which they get no commission.

Pros

Best job ever, I was able to play with toys all the time. I usually stayed late to open boxes, and play, then I put them back in boxes like nothing happened and then go home, my wife always thought I was cheating because I was late, sometimes 3AM, but I just can't stop playing with toys, it was awesome.

Cons

My wife didn't like my job. She hated when I was late.
