Pros
Great brand and fun environment. Macro communication is great - quarterly business review meetings with CEO and Executive Committee where results and strategy are presented to all HQ team members. Excellent, scenic campus with full service cafeteria, coffee lounge, fitness center and dry cleaners. Historically, internal career growth was emphasized, but now growth means taking on a bigger job in addition to your former responsibilities.
Cons
Company has been under the dark cloud of multiple private owners who want a return on their investment and who often disagree on long and short term direction. Very senior executive leader is extremely in the weeds but does not have the time or capacity to be. There is an expectation of very rapid delivery on initiatives, but critical decisions are help up at very senior levels. No matter how planful and strategic you attempt to be, it always comes down to an 11th hour scramble as decisions are finally made and then changed, and then changed again. There has been a focus on expense control for some time, but now in the hands of a non-US based CEO, unpopular decisions that were shied away from previously are now being made, e.g. closing of NYC flagship location and outsourcing of shared service functions. EBITDA goals being met via expense cutting over sales growth. Concerned for what the future holds for the brand in the US.
