Pros

If you enjoy seeing kids smile, that part of the job could be okay. There's also a 10% discount which, though not much, it helps with the TRU exclusives.

Cons

HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT. At the one i worked at, the manager was completely inconsiderate and not at ALL compassionate towards his employees. Everyone is easily replaced & he treated us all as if we were simply numbers to him... Which is all you are. THERE IS NO TRAINING - at least not for seasonal help. I came in on my first shift ever, and was thrown onto the customer service register, meaning I was also responsible for answering the store phone & dealing with grumpy customers - on, and i repeat, MY FIRST DAY. THE REGISTERS AND OTHER EQUIPMENT ARE TOTAL GARBAGE. There is both a touch-screen monitor and a keyboard on the registers, and it was sheer luck as to which one would be working at any given time. Whenever I needed to type something out on the keyboard and my keyboard wasn't working, I had to send the customer to a different register, which is annoying & tedious, and half the time, they told me not to bother. Also, the hand-held item scanning device was continually not working & then we would have to unplug it & reset it. This happened at least 7 times per 6 hour shift. THE METRICS ARE RIDICULOUS. You have to ask EVERY customer that comes through about a credit card, batteries, a buyer protection plan, a loyalty program, AND a donation to charity. Even when the customer's purchase is toys that don't require batteries, you still have to ask them. A woman came through my lane to buy a package of m&m's. Obviously, she's not interested in batteries, right? WRONG. According to the management, batteries are essential to candy consumption, as well as anything else you may buy in the store. Same deal on the credit card. Yeah, you get 10% off on your purchase if you sign up for the credit card.... but if you're only buying one or two things, do you really care? What with all the paperwork needing to be filled out for the card, I'd assume not. ALL IN ALL -- work here if you're desperate -- there's no other reason to.

Pros

Best job ever, I was able to play with toys all the time. I usually stayed late to open boxes, and play, then I put them back in boxes like nothing happened and then go home, my wife always thought I was cheating because I was late, sometimes 3AM, but I just can't stop playing with toys, it was awesome.

Cons

My wife didn't like my job. She hated when I was late.
