Pros
There are so many things I like about my job, it'd be easier to list the reasons I don't (see "cons" box). I have flexibility I've never had before, I get noticed and praised when I'm doing well, and I get great compensation for such a flexible job. Since the very beginning, I've been very impressed with the company and thankful for my job. I've seen a level of professionalism and respect that I've never seen at any of my other ESL jobs (all in Asia). Plus, I'm getting paid to have fun with the sweetest kids. I don't have to come up with lesson plans or fill out extensive paperwork–I can just follow their well designed curriculum. Do be aware that with any new job, if you are hired, it may take some time to learn the ropes; especially with this job as it is quite technical and there are a lot of procedures and rules to learn and follow. Also as a new hire it may take a little time to fill up your schedule and gain new students, which can be a bit offsetting. If you're a great teacher, your schedule will fill up! However, VIPkid has loads of resources to help you as long as you're willing and open to learning (and many parts of the training process are actually paid!). It is a company, and naturally they want to hire highly competent employees; whom they feel are most likely to succeed. Can you blame them?
Cons
Depending on where you are located, the hours can be very early morning. Remember this is a part-time contract job-not full time. You are not guaranteed full time hours and there are no benefits. You are responsible for your taxes.
