Toxic leadership, male favoritism, and double standards - Senior Leadership Verano Holdings Employee Review

Pros

There are many talented employees doing their best to succeed despite the instability created by leadership. It can look good on a resume if you stay long enough, and you’ll gain real experience navigating a volatile and highly political environment.

Cons

The problems at Verano start at the top. The CEO sets a tone of fear, politics, and favoritism that cascades through the entire organization. Leadership operates on intimidation, personal alliances, and nepotism rather than competence or fairness. There’s a clear pattern of male favoritism at the executive level: certain male leaders are given preferential treatment, held to different standards, and politically protected even when they don’t meet the same expectations as others. Advancement depends on who you align with, not what you achieve. HR functions as leadership’s shield rather than an independent resource — investigations are performative, policies are applied inconsistently, and outcomes are pre-determined. Compensation is below industry average, raises are unreliable, and turnover is constant. Communication is vague, stability is nonexistent, and burnout is routine.
