Don't buy the hype - Software Engineer WorkWave Employee Review

Pros

For other departments there are some really good things to look forward to about WorkWave. The company is beginning to grow new divisions such as Product Management and Marketing, which provides some new job opportunities. A lot of the employees are genuine, nice people. The free lunch is also a pro if you're trying to save money.

Cons

Nearly all of the talented developers have jumped ship, and the few that remain are dangerously close to doing the same. But it's cool, because the higher level decision-makers are ignorant of the current landscape of software developers and how they want to work anyway, and have done everything they can to encourage a "codemill" environment where mediocre developers sit and crank out mediocre code. Imagine a software company where Engineering takes a backseat to Sales and Marketing. Developers are not treated well, the pay is not competitive, and it takes too long to advance your salary. Thank you for positive comments about our culture and people. While not perfect, we as a leadership team work hard to create an environment across the company that encourages and strengthens that type of environment. All that said, our culture isn't a fit for everyone and it's clear from your other comments that WorkWave's culture wasn't a fit for you. One comment I can't help but address is your assertion that "nearly all the talented developers have jumped ship” because, as head of WorkWave Engineering, I can say with certainty that it's not true. More importantly, I think it's unfair to diminish the skills of the talented team of 70+ engineers who you once called teammates (and friends). We're very proud of our engineers and what they’ve achieved over the past 30 years! Again, we're not perfect but constantly strive as a company and a leadership team to be. We've added many talented engineers in the past several years to our already strong team and will continue to do so to help build the exciting mobile, cloud and analytics products we have underway. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't feel WorkWave was the best fit for you as so many others do. We all hope you find that ideal fit at your new company and wish you the best of luck there.

Pros

WorkWave is truly one of the best work environments I’ve experienced. The company has strong momentum, a modern product vision, and a culture that makes you feel excited about where things are headed. What stands out most is the forward‑looking strategy, supportive teams, and leadership that communicates openly and invests in people. There’s real trust, autonomy, and a shared sense of ownership across the organization.

Cons

Truly none worth noting here.

Pros

The unlimited pto and remote work is the only thing that keeps people

Cons

Basically the entire leadership and manangement. 2 years ago they company went under a massive leadership shift and it was not for the better. Workwave used to have an amazing culture people actually enjoyed working there. Now your just another number that leadership doesnt care about. Your expected to work late and weekends at the result of poor planning by manangement, work load is way to much, and they are constantly layoffs. How many layoffs do they need before they reach their goal? everyones afraid for their job. Im convinced the positive reviews are from the leadership themselves to boost the ratings here. Not the place it once was and its a shame. The pay is very low too for the staff theyve had for years.
