Pros
You get to work side-by-side with the biggest tech companies. They are relatively hands off, and will not micromanage. The pay is okay. The benefits are in-line with what you see in smaller employers. The PTO policy is decent. They are introducing internal programs to encourage team building and collaboration. When on boarding, they can provide up to 4 weeks of vendor training.
Cons
In terms of enablement, they do not provide support for certifications outside of the vendors you work with. Your job depends on vendor stability & vendor sales; you don’t have control over this, and as a result, job stability can be a concern. There are no defined rules or pathways to move from one team/vendor to the next (Say Palo Alto to Splunk or Splunk to GCP). They are working on improving company culture and team cohesion. Some may rejoice in not having to feel pressure joining team meetings or a Zoom happy hour. Others may wish to feel more inclusion, or like they are part of something.
