It's a paycheck

Pros

This covers the tech side of the company, but I get the sense it's the same in other business units, too. If you like showing up, doing your 40 hours and collecting a paycheck, then EP is for you. If you don't really care about providing input, or seeing value in what you're doing, or having a meaningful impact, and just want a paycheck, EP is great. They have a generous WFH policy and flexible hours. And I don't mean this to sound salty - if that's you, good for you. Clock out and get on with your life.

Cons

Welcome to professional purgatory. Leadership doesn't want input, doesn't want pushback, and doesn't want to hear about your professional goals and desire for growth. If you're not the person described in the Pros section of this review, then you're in for a steady march toward being just one more automaton. Don't get me wrong, EP's not horrible - it's not a toxic environment with tons of yelling and degradation. But there's nothing to get excited about. There's nothing to enjoy. And if you need that joy in what you do, you won't find it at EP. And if you don't like it, Leadership doesn't want to hear it.

Latest changes are frustrating

Pros

The core group of employees that I interact with are hard working and well intentioned. The Company is a leading in this industry.

Cons

The executive team seems out of touch with the core base of employees. I feel that Ivory Tower syndrome has kicked in and that they don't understand the real impact of pushing health care costs down to the employees. $250/month may not seem like a lot of money to them but it is for many. While still less than what others pay at other companies, this was one of the perks of being an employee-owner. I feel my shareholder voice is not heard.

Thank you for your honest feedback. We do have amazing, hard-working employee owners at EP! Changing our health insurance policy was a very difficult decision for our executive team to make and a great deal of thought and analysis was involved. We were one of the last companies we knew to offer 100% coverage for all employees and dependents. Even with this recent change, employees still receive 100% coverage and we are asking for just a small contribution for the total portion of the premium for dependents. We remain fully committed to our caring culture, being a great place to work and above market in benefits and perks, as well as to helping build a secure retirement for each other through our ESOP.
