Great Place to Start, Not a Great Place to Stay

Pros

The people who work at Entrata are amazing. The company wouldn't be where it is without them, and Entrata knows this. They work hard to take care of their people. They plan a lot of fun activities and give away a lot of swag. Honestly, they do try. Entrata is a great place to gain entry-level experience. The building is beautiful, and the gym is AMAZING.

Cons

Benefits: Entrata can't keep talent for this reason. People who are great at there jobs won't stay here long because they can get far more with companies right across the street. Entrata's benefits don't seem comparable. PTO: The PTO policy at Entrata is probably the biggest complaint company wide. According to Utah legislature, employees in the state receive 142 hours (roughly 17 days) of PTO. Entrata is far, far below that. And that's not even considering the new trend of unlimited PTO in the software world. Low compensation: The compensation is a tad lower than other positions, but not awful. Schedule: No schedule flexibility. No options to work remote or split time between home/office. CEO: The CEO is extremely unprofessional as mentioned in many reviews here.

Don't do it

Pros

Some positions pay pretty well at first.... and some free stuff to keep you distracted.

Cons

The company is extremely unethical. The only people that do well here are those who are well connected coming into the company, and who support management directives, even if the directive is unethical, illegal, or detrimental to a product or the work environment. Management is terrible and will openly play favorites. The few things the company does for its employees are used as tools to distract from the rapidly decaying and toxic business culture they promote. If you do a good job, your manager will get the credit and gets a huge bonus at the end of the year. You might get $100. If you ever find something you think you should talk to HR about, save your breath and your job and don't do it. They will always back management decisions. Those who successfully suck up to management are often promoted to manage teams they know nothing about. Everything is done in an underhanded way, and you'll often be stuck wondering why such an illogical decision was made. The company will try to lure you in with their advertised values and hyped-up training team, but it only takes a couple months to see past the facade. The CEO is an egomaniac who copied a competitor's software (look it up, there's a lawsuit).

Pros

They offered me a fair base salary. There are a few really great people that work here. Free Costco food every Monday (not a huge plus but nice nonetheless). Company lunches from time to time. Interesting culture in the company as a whole (flash-mobs, YouTube videos, etc.)

Cons

There is absolutely NO work/life balance in the development organization. Over half of the Product Development Managers, Product Managers, and Architects survive on 3-4 hours of sleep. The days are not only long but they run most of the day then start up again at 10PM to anywhere from midnight to 4AM. Very sub-par benefits (Health, Dental, Time Off accrual). CEO is far too "in the weeds" in the day to day operations on the software development side. He'll stay up all night and completely revamp core systems on a whim which causes havoc for everyone in the org. He "bootstraps" the company which translates to sharing hotel rooms with other guys when travelling, no corporate cards, no reimbursement for job related training, and the possibility of sleeping on the floor at an apartment in India on your required month long trip once per year. CEO also loves to have anyone and everyone genuflect him constantly so you end up with entry level employees with a huge voice in the company's direction. He needs to hire a CEO and change his title to Developer or Architect at best or get out of the code.
