All Good Just a Week Ago

Pros

I joined this company a few years ago and initially found it to be an exceptional place to work. The pay was highly competitive, benefits like unlimited PTO and overtime incentives were generous, and the flexibility of remote work was a significant perk. However, over time, every single one these advantages have been systematically stripped away, leaving the workforce disillusioned. Our department consistently exceeded expectations, surpassing our 2024 goals. Despite this, the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) failed to meet her own targets and responded by slashing commissions by 30% while raising annual quotas by 40%. To compound the issue, these changes were concealed from us until the end of the first quarter, only to be retroactively applied to the start of the year. This lack of transparency resulted in some colleagues owing back money they had already earned—a deeply unfair and demotivating blow. Communication from the CRO is nonexistent. She demonstrates little understanding of our day-to-day responsibilities or the value we bring to the organization. Since these changes took effect, morale has plummeted, leading to the departure of five team members and even our director. Adding insult to injury, when employees submit their notice, they are terminated immediately rather than being allowed a standard transition period. Furthermore, they were promised payment through their intended notice date, but this commitment has not been honored, further eroding trust. On a positive note, I was able to obtain my life license and several certifications during my tenure, which I’m grateful for. My coworkers are outstanding, and the managers I’ve worked under rank among the best I’ve encountered—supportive, capable, and genuinely invested in their teams. Unfortunately, this stands in stark contrast to the C-suite, particularly the CRO, whose mismanagement and inequitable decisions are some of the worst I’ve witnessed in my career. If this trajectory continues, I foresee our department dissolving within the next year—either by the company’s own actions or because the remaining talent seeks opportunities elsewhere, a loss entirely of their own making. If you have gotten this far and are considering the role, I’d strongly recommend reconsidering; you may not have a job within a year

Cons

Lack of communication, zero transparency, false promises, dictator for a CRO who for whatever reason runs our department but doesn’t communicate directly with it and has been quoted saying that she runs Entrata with an “iron fist”

Pros

The people and overall job itself.

Cons

There has been a consistent reduction in wages and benefits for a role that requires a mandatory 18-month contract. Since joining this position, the CRO and the company have progressively and systematically removed nearly all of the initial benefits offered. These changes have included an abrupt shift from a salaried position to an hourly wage, a move from remote work to a requirement of three days in the office, clawbacks on commissions. Furthermore, there was a 30% reduction in commission rates, with no accelerators, leading to a significant pay cut of 40-50%. At the same time, quotas were increased by 40%, and it took an entire quarter into the new year to release the updated compensation plan, with clawbacks applied to commissions from previous months. The lack of communication and care for this department has becoming devastatingly demoralizing. Why completely ruin a bright spot in the company in a matter of a few months. The CRO seems to have a dictator like mentality that is slowly turning the employees against the company. She missed quota last year and has since destroyed the only department that exceeded their quota. Despite the department's strong performance, employee retention has become a major issue, with both current and new hires leaving the company. The director was recently let go, and five newly hired employees have quit immediately after training. Additionally, long-tenured sales agents are also departing. The sales team now spends a significant portion of their time (approximately 70%) performing tasks typically handled by other teams, due to understaffing.

Pros

The people there are open and honest. Great to work with. I feel the pay is competitive enough. My chain of management is fantastic.

Cons

It can be difficult to get promotions and raises without clear evidence of major impact.
