Pros

The actual idea of the software property solutions provides is actually a great idea.

Cons

I do not even know where to begin with this. Now that I have moved on and Property Solutions I can honestly say that working in the SEO/PPC marketing department was the worst decision for my career that I ever made. I struggle to even say we did SEO because the fact of the matter is we literally did nothing month to month that could be categorized as effective SEO by anyone who knows marketing. The amount of money companies are paying for the service is absurd. I would strongly advise if you have any prior experience in marketing to not accept a job here. You will be unhappy because you are already overqualified. They use people to be account managers who have had no experience because they are cheap to employ and they will “drink the PSI kool-aid” as management puts it which basically means they can be controlled into accepting a bad working environment. The only experience I gained from working here was what questions to ask potential employers when looking for a job so I don't end up in this situation again. The management of this department is horrendous. People in our department have brought this to the attention of higher management on multiple occasions and they even admitted that there was a problem with our director. The fact that you have a director who is supposed to be leading and "directing" the department who is not even working in the same state is already a huge problem. Add to it that nothing ever gets changed with the service because she is too busy monitoring what you say in internal chats because she is paranoid about people talking bad about her and you begin to see the horrible working environment that exists here. You are constantly bombarded by attempts to think that you are the problem so that you do not look too closely at what is actually going on. I could go on and on about everything that has happened, but I think that fact that there is 100% turnover is such short time like another review stated proves the point. If you even remotely consider yourself knowledgeable in SEO and you are a good at what you do I strongly advise you not to work here. You will be convinced to be brought on at a low base salary with the promise of a high bonus but it is a lie. You will be getting paid about half what you can get paid elsewhere. That is the reason why I am so happy to have moved on and would never recommend anyone to work there.

Enough with the growing pains

Pros

PSI is built around some cool ideas, and its done its best to build a fun work culture that we use successfully to recruit great people. I have to admit, we have gotten great at telling our story. Unfortunately, it's all a lot of kabuki theater to distract people from our company's fundamental problems, both in terms of the way we develop our products to how we sell them and how we really treat people.

Cons

If you look back through these reviews, you'll see that there have been complaints about our "growing pains" for close to three years now. You would think that there is a point at which growing pains have gone on so long that they would be more accurately referred to as institutionalized dysfunction, and I feel confident that we passed that point a long time ago. The problems only become more intractable with each passing year. Unfortunately CEO Dave Bateman would rather spend his time touting his LDS bona fides at local business schools or giving interviews to B2B publications no one reads because his PR machine won him some new dumb award. I can't see how anyone can be enthusiastic about working for a company that has seemingly has a policy of stealing ideas from its own business partners and lying compulsively to our customers to sell them products that don't work. It's taken me a few years to come grips with these feelings, but my conclusion is that I have unfortunately devoted the last few years of my life to working for a group of demented, amoral sociopaths, and I pray that I am able to get out of here before the whole enterprise implodes and destroys my reputation along with my job.

Great people, mediocre product, horrible leader

Pros

HR and those over hiring in certain departments have done a great job bringing in fun people. Some departments are a lot more fun than others, but overall the average person is great.

Cons

If the rest of the industry didn't lag so far behind to start with, all of PSI's clients would have already left. The industry is catching up, all while flagship products (Entrata) sit in eternal beta testing or receive little to no attention or improvements. The instability and outages are discouraging and frustrating to employees and clients. This can be traced back to a CEO who is such a mad scientist manager and leader it can't be stressed enough. There is a reason that all of upper management has relationships with him that vary from strained to not on speaking terms. I wish I could think of one positive thing to say about Dave Bateman's current abilities as a CEO. He fails at almost every level of leadership and management. So while you may initially take a job here and really enjoy reporting to some great middle managers, know that if you progress far enough you will be subject to a CEO who wields absolute control and thinks he (and each of his late night, coding-induced ideas) is infallible. He uses his control to spread company resources on so many new products and projects that the products that actually make money and have the chance to be successful will be so bug ridden and time delayed that they'll never take over the market like they might have. I could go on with anecdotes, but I feel very strongly that PSI will never achieve its true potential with Dave Bateman at the helm, and the compensation, training, and product quality will all stay at their current poor levels unless he steps aside.
