Pros

the company spends a good amount of money on marketing and their offices' setup, plus offers great benefits

Cons

bro culture, amateurish and arrogant leadership, robotic personalities permeate all levels of the company and tend to be favored for promotions and accepted as the norm, do not be fooled by the "unlimited vacation policy" - if you are in sales, you will be contacted by the many layers of managers during your time off to make sure you are on top of your quota, and if you have already made your quota, then you are still going to be contacted just to make sure you are not slaking off on company time and money

DI has over time built a team, made up of individuals, that value commitment and accountability. Why? It is because we have a lot at stake. Not just for investors, which everyone has, but for the 1,000+ individuals and families that rely on us. People place faith in our direction and commitments to make sure that they have both security and a high quality of life. We can see where that would be a challenge for some and can respect that, but our belief system is that when hundreds and thousands are impacted by you directly we have to hold ourselves to a higher standard. Our culture is certainly not for all but it is for those that seek impact outside of just personal well being. This may all seem like fluff and wishful thinking but this is measured in our employee engagement and realized things like Amplify Austin. It is just part of our fabric.

Minorities and Women are Dissmissed and Mocked

Pros

Decent dental, medical, unlimited PTO(if you're salary and that's a double edge sword), and some attempts (though always half-hearted and generally fall through) at wellness and culture building. A lot of good and wonderful people to work with and for but

Cons

The cons far out weigh those friendly co workers. Pay is below average, by far, and when we bring it up we're told that 'compensation surveys' have been done and we're assured we make at least average. Yet we never see these results, there is zero transparency, and so there is brain drain. I can make double what I do for DI at an O&G company or other tech company. Seems...problematic. Speaking of problematic, do yourself a favor and don't be a woman or minority here. Women's pay is consistently much lower than male counter parts. They are much less likely to be promoted. And while we have many Hispanic, black, and Asian employees, we have a distinct lack of any of them in management positions. When people bring those concerns up in fireside chats, we're told that they're just not good enough to be managers or be promoted. The concerns are dismissed and mocked as 'liberal nonsense'. ...50% of our employees are minorities and women. Are you telling me they are categorically worse or do we just only hire magically superior white men and the occasional 'able' white women? The one Hispanic woman that was in a higher management position was held back in title despite, functionally, overseeing half of the company. When she left, what little progress that had been made was lost. Aside from those issues, let's talk about turn over because it's a revolving door for managers and bosses. It's a running joke in some departments about who is going to reach a dozen bosses in a year. Compensation, training, clear expectations and goals are all lacking. But there is a wealth of sacred golden cows handed down from C-level where we have to stop everything and focus on the C-level's tantrum. This is all without even addressing the total lack of competent HR, a department that is treated like a joke by the C-level (who has said before that they don't even see the point of the department) and who has become a joke to employees because they are totally unable to do anything about anything. HIPPA violations, nepotism, discrimination, sexual harassment, salary gaps, hell even if you do manage to get a raise it'll be months before it goes into effect and if you're lucky you'll get the back pay taxed as a bonus because why not?? I wouldn't mention it but in almost a decade here it's happened multiple times from multiple HR people. It's a chronic problem.

Pros

Overall, Drillinginfo is staffed with incredible people with impressive pedigrees. The products are spectacular and have the data/analysis that clients are looking for. A few members of the management team are extremely on their game and are incredible assets to the Drillinginfo team - they are truly a pleasure to work with. When oil prices are high, life is great. I truly believe the company has so much potential, but things are a mess right now and low oil prices aren't helping.

Cons

The current business model is completely unsustainable and they are making constant drastic changes to satisfy the board of directors. (And ironically acquiring more and more companies despite having a terrible revenue year and annihilating the sales team to save money). Extremely high turnover rate and disloyalty to employees - I have witnessed several members of the sales team (including one who won "Account Executive of the year") let go after one or two bad quarters. Massively Misogynistic - unless you are in the Boys' Club, you are overlooked, overworked, and underpaid. Allen Gilmer hosts Fireside Chats where he claims to address the employees' concerns. He has good intentions, but always avoids answering these concerns or questions directly and always ends with a "Oh, it's a tough time, but we'll be fine!" He seems very out of touch with the chaos happening on the sales team - probably because he has his hand in too many other projects, companies, and boards he sits on. Constant Restructuring of Accounts and Sales staff. The clients are extremely unhappy because they never know who is working their account. And in this second restructuring in just one year, clients have become screwed over once again. Close to zero internal communication. The product team rolls out features constantly and often don't communicate this to the rest of the Drillinginfo staff. Additionally, a few of the products can't even be altered because no one knows the programming language - this leaves clients who religiously use these products extremely frustrated. The management team is full of double-dealing people who will throw you under the bus for their own gain. Empty promises to keep everyone motivated. The new president came in and said he wanted to create a work environment where we were all excited to come to work every day - I honestly have no idea why he is here and have yet to see him accomplish anything significant. No annual bonuses. Gilmer promised the staff we would receive bonuses at Christmas for our hard work - none of us have received this yet either.
