The cons far out weigh those friendly co workers.
Pay is below average, by far, and when we bring it up we're told that 'compensation surveys' have been done and we're assured we make at least average. Yet we never see these results, there is zero transparency, and so there is brain drain. I can make double what I do for DI at an O&G company or other tech company. Seems...problematic.
Speaking of problematic, do yourself a favor and don't be a woman or minority here.
Women's pay is consistently much lower than male counter parts.
They are much less likely to be promoted.
And while we have many Hispanic, black, and Asian employees, we have a distinct lack of any of them in management positions.
When people bring those concerns up in fireside chats, we're told that they're just not good enough to be managers or be promoted. The concerns are dismissed and mocked as 'liberal nonsense'.
...50% of our employees are minorities and women. Are you telling me they are categorically worse or do we just only hire magically superior white men and the occasional 'able' white women?
The one Hispanic woman that was in a higher management position was held back in title despite, functionally, overseeing half of the company. When she left, what little progress that had been made was lost.
Aside from those issues, let's talk about turn over because it's a revolving door for managers and bosses. It's a running joke in some departments about who is going to reach a dozen bosses in a year.
Compensation, training, clear expectations and goals are all lacking.
But there is a wealth of sacred golden cows handed down from C-level where we have to stop everything and focus on the C-level's tantrum.
This is all without even addressing the total lack of competent HR, a department that is treated like a joke by the C-level (who has said before that they don't even see the point of the department) and who has become a joke to employees because they are totally unable to do anything about anything. HIPPA violations, nepotism, discrimination, sexual harassment, salary gaps, hell even if you do manage to get a raise it'll be months before it goes into effect and if you're lucky you'll get the back pay taxed as a bonus because why not??
I wouldn't mention it but in almost a decade here it's happened multiple times from multiple HR people. It's a chronic problem.
