Cons
I have seen so many reviews about the bad pay and working with difficult clients (which is all true) but what these reviews do not share is the in site of a completely awful work atmosphere within Epiq itself. Their main goal is to keep cheap staff. There is no goal to develop hard working, knowledgeable staff with great work ethics. Epiq literally hires staff just to be a warm body in the office (this has been verbally told to me by a manager in defense of poor staffing). I am not sure where they get their people but I have seen such a massive turn around- not because they are late all the time or something ordinary like that, these people get into fights, refuse to do tasks, disappear from the office, show up drunk, say obscene things to clients, broke client confidentiality… I could go on. Within Epiq, if one has an issue and needs to go to their manager there is no hope for a solution or help because some of the managers (I can name one and give many examples) will not help. He turns the stories around, tell excuses (“oh that’s just how so and so is, don’t worry about her” or “that’s just her culture”- I think cussing, talking about body parts- x-rated, smacking men’s butts, or making racial slurs is not an excuse to her culture) and lies. Other managers (the good ones) will go to their reginal manager and then nothing happens. It does not stop there- if you skip your manager/reginal manager and go straight to HR nothing is resolved there because HR will discuss with the reginal manager and they will lie to HR! I know of at least five people this has happened to (funny how it is the same issues/people and nothing is resolved)- all have been pushed to the point of quitting or getting “fire” (for whatever excuse they can find to get rid of the actual hard working decent people). These complaints that these people tried to have resolved were serious, such as sexual harassment, bullying, racism, obscene comments, refusing to train new employees…. But don’t worry, the people that cause these issues still work here (even after one was BANNED from all corporate buildings for getting in a fight with a security guard)- and to this day, they still causing problems. Nothing is done with these people because they have no goals in life and will not leave the company, this means Epiq does not have to worry about spending money hiring new people and at a higher rate. It is extremely sad.
