Great stock, some terrific people, highly political corporate environment

Pros

The stock plans were great. The staff in the IBXs were top notch. There are some really good, smart, motivated people at this company. It was great to work for an organization with such a solid track record of success.

Cons

Highly political environment in corporate. If you have been there for a long time you don't have to work much and are protected. If you are newer you take on the bulk of the work and are held to completely different standards and expectations. If you manage up well, you will probably do well here. If you are the kind of person who focuses on doing a good job and doesn't play the political game you will not be appreciated.

The company was built on a great business plan: to be the global interconnection hub for the internet. Pays well.

Cons

Self-congratulatory attitude Too many incompetent people in senior management - particularly marketing. No upward mobility or opportunities for internal transfers. Sycophantic culture that rewards credit-stealing and making - but not keeping - big promises

Company stock is performing well Breakfast is provided daily in HQ Compensation is competitive for the industry and region

Cons

A lot of the hiring is based on cronyism and nepotism, which demotivates existing employees Execs always say they have an open door policy, but they don't practice what they preach A lot of dysfunction in general with various teams, all about impressions vs the actual work product
