Pros

The only pro is the people you meet. Bankers, doctors, a lot of well connected people. You get a free all access membership, but it isn't really free if you're working OT for it is it?

Cons

Don't do it. Travel blackout periods for the first 2 months of the year. The last 4 days of every month 12 hour shifts back to back to back to back. The job is not good unless you're fresh out of college and don't have a life outside of working out. If you're looking for job with any semblance of work life balance, or are just an adult with a life, get a regular desk job if you can.

Pros

You can use the gym sometimes. There are no other pros

Cons

Horrible company and awful management. The spa management "team" was lazy at best, and downright psychotic at worst. What was once a thriving business was ruined by incompetent management(that expected employees to back them up at every turn)

Pros

Free membership is the only reason I'd recommend you work for this company.

Cons

The NYC membership advisor base is $30,000. Obviously, this means it's extremely important for you to sign up enough people to hit your monthly goal. There is a policy that the member has to stay a member for 90 days minimum, and if they cancel before, Equinox will take back the commission you were already paid out on your next paycheck. In my club, we were lied to by someone who would profit from corporate sales that they were waiving this policy for summer interns who only wanted 60 day memberships. We were told to sign them all up and not to worry about losing the commission, that we would be paid "on the back end". A tenured employee in a position above us admitted that it didn't sound right but didn't hold the person accountable and we never got any proof in writing. In her position, she should have asked more questions and made sure this was legitimate. Equinox took back $1100 from me because of this lie. I escalated this to a higher executive who had no empathy or solution and said there was simply “nothing he could do”. And so I quit. Never mind that the actual job is brainless work and all you do is harass former members and anyone who has ever been to visit an Equinox. This job will provide you with no value in life and you will not leave with any valuable transferable skills. You are also required to work 12 hour shifts the last 3/4 days of the month for closeout and receive 0 compensation for overtime because you are a salaried employee. Which feels illegal and I hope someone will take legal action soon. Don't waste your time, do not work here.
