Pros

Just the health benefits that's all. Working in a newer building.

Cons

Worked here for almost 5 years! Its going DOWN! Huge turnover of employees! Fewer sales meeting and less resident events The commission use to be great, but its not. Managers take all the renewals and they are greedy! Leasing consultants do ALOT of work, we should be compensated. Service team gets 35% off rent and we get 20%!! That is so unfair!! Onsite staff deal with alot of BS so we should get the same treatment. Equity is CHEAP! and they want to do everything in house so it creates a harder work environment for service techs and office members. Onsite members have to pay the lease breakage fee when we decide to break a lease. We shouldn't if we are buying a house. We need more perks.

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts, although it is difficult to hear of your frustrations. We would like to hear more about your concerns, and hope you will share your feedback and suggestions with your Regional Manager and/or a member of your local HR/OTD team. We did want to clarify what you stated about our rent discount. In the DC market, all full-time employees are eligible for a 25% rent discount (not 20%), and Service employees are offered 35% as an incentive to live on-site so that they are able to respond quickly to on-call emergencies. Please review the Employee Rent Discount page on ERNIE for more information, and contact your Regional Manager if you still have questions. Thank you again for your feedback.

Pros

Benefits are decent. They have created a forum for the company to communicate nationwide and enter suggestions on improvements so you feel like your voice is heard.

Cons

If you've been with the company for more than 4 years then you know how it used to be. Everyone felt like family and you could ask for support without worrying about your capabilities to do your job being questioned. They've taken away resident events that the residents actually enjoyed and started charging them to attend, they've cut back on employee events so we don't get to meet as much with our peers that support each other. Leadership is unhelpful. They tell you to think like an owner but treat you like you are incapable of making a sound business decision if it doesn't make the investors money. They say do the right thing but that doesn't mean what you think it means. They call us field workers and that's exactly how we are treated. Disposable. Any employee that works in the "field" is spread way too thin. They promote work life balance but you spend your evenings, weekends, and vacations trying to catch up or ensure your community doesn't go up in flames. And if it does, no one from upper management helps. They let you drown and tell you to figure it out on your own. Good luck trying to get promoted if you are not favored.

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and feedback. Although we are disappointed to hear that your impression of the company has changed over the length of your tenure, we are hopeful that after the amount of time you have invested in your career here, we may have the opportunity to re-engage you. Many members of our senior leadership team, both across the country and across departments, read these reviews and take the feedback seriously; while yours is difficult to hear, we are appreciative that you shared it with us. We also hope that the upcoming Leader Summit will be a great opportunity for you to network with all of your CM and SM peers, as well as hear about new initiatives and strategy from our leadership team, and of course — make your voice heard. If you have specific feedback you are willing to share, we hope you will contact your HR Director at 202-971-7088. We thank you again, and we hope for the opportunity to change your perspective.

Pros

The leadership like VP Shanna Dion and Regional Property Manager Jeremiah Thorpe make this an amazing place to work. Their training and support is second to none and they truly live their company values. Equity also provides the best benefits I've had in a 20-year career. I always felt supported by other managers and the corporate office. Equity hires the best so if you are really talented and want to advance your career I believe this is the company to provide you that opportunity.

Cons

They don't have any properties in the city I moved to. IT support is understaffed.

What a great endorsement of our amazing Boston leadership team! We think Shanna and Jeremiah are pretty awesome too, and it means so much to them and to us to hear of your experience working with them. We are also glad to hear your rave review of our benefits offerings. Our HR team is constantly researching and evaluating new ways to support our employees in both their personal and professional lives, and your validation of those efforts is great to hear. We wish our time together hadn’t ended with your relocation to another city, and hope that you will consider Equity again in the future should you find yourself back in one of our markets!
