Pros

Lots of growth opportunities. They have advanced technology that allows you to complete your job easily and many competitors do not have the technology Equity does. Work life balance, loyalty to good hardworking employees, lots of resources. This company is one that you can have a career for a long time.

Cons

Thin staffing, wish there was more money in the budgets to throw nice events for residents vs throwing something together that is free or in a tight budget. Some buildings need a little love in the common area renovations. Would be nice to have phones paid for or half the bill paid considering we use our phones for a ton of work related items.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such honest, balanced feedback. We are so pleased to hear that you are impressed by our technology - we have invested a great deal of time and funds into making it the best in the industry! We also thank you for your comments regarding resident events, renovations, and cell phones. We definitely agree with you about the need for more events, which is why we added a Resident Event Planner position in our DC market this summer! We hope your community has been able to benefit from this addition. And while we have completed or approved more capital projects and renovations in our portfolio in the last few years than ever before, we also know that this is a constant need, and you have our commitment that we will continue to evaluate and prioritize each community’s needs. Please keep sharing your specific feedback and requests with your RM, Facilities, VP, and Investments Officer - they all are always open to hearing from you. As for cell phones, we appreciate this suggestion and will keep it in mind as we continue to evaluate and enhance our total compensation packages. Thank you for all that you do to lead your community and team to success as a Community Manager - cheers to many more years of working and growing together!

Pros

Overall Equity is a great company to work for. I feel that I can talk with anyone in the company and the support from different departments is available to me.

Cons

Hiring is a challenge in today economy and with that said more training is needed for new employees and current ones. Our OTD group spends a lot of time on projects the mostly focus on leasing or online training. We really need more hands on support for our service teams.

Thank you so much - first and foremost, for your 8 years of service, and also for your compliments and your honest advice. You brought up a point that we have been feeling for quite some time as well, which is that we need to do everything in our power to prepare our Service team members for the technical challenges of their roles. This is necessary for their own success as well as that of their teams and managers, and is even more pronounced in today’s highly competitive job market, as you pointed out. Fortunately, in the time that has passed since you submitted your review (our apologies for the delayed response!), our OTD team has been hard at work on initiatives that will support our Service teams specifically. With the rollout of Service Basics, we are now offering more hands-on training to new Technicians. And soon we will be piloting something that we are incredibly excited about: our Service Apprenticeship program, which will enable us to spend more time training Service employees before moving them into Technician roles. These programs were created for all of the reasons you mentioned, so we hope you feel heard and acknowledged, and we can’t wait to see the results. Thank you for all that you do and for taking the time to share your thoughts here. We really appreciate you!

Pros

Culture separates Equity Residential from the pack. You make a difference - your opinions matter! From the top leadership to the outstanding women and men at our communities everyone lives the 10 Ways. This is a place where you can be yourself, where you will be heard, where you everyone thinks like an owner. Great benefits especially our above average housing discount.

Cons

Equity prides itself on being thrifty and self sufficient. That culture is not a fit for everyone
