Pros

During the first 4 years of my career at EQR, I learned a lot. I had amazing mentors who actually took the time to teach you and to make sure you had the tools to succeed. The first 4 years set the platform for my career.. and then management changed. I am happy for what I did learn and happy for the opportunities presented.

Cons

There is a pretty big disconnect between on-site sales and corporate. Integrity is lacking in the NY market causing some major on-boarding issues. They are no longer willing to compensate for hard work. Doing the right thing no longer matters. Was with them for 7 years!

Pros

I worked for Equity Residential and I must say, the company has great benefits, has an excellent balance of overall professional and personal life.

Cons

For me, the con was the property management staff at multiple properties as well as the District managers that oversees their properties. I was disrespected, embarrassed, and morally hurt by their way of conduct. They(property and district managers) do not care about your well being, your ideas, or even your feelings. I had a situation with this company and I've reached out to ALL of my superiors and nothing was done. I was completely ignored and got the run around every time I brought up an issue involving a particular manager, because she/he was an employee of the company for years. At the end of the day, I would just say stay away from this company if you want a place that really cares about you because the Managment staff they hire doesn't

The work experience you describe is not one that we would want any employee to experience. We question if it was Equity Residential because we don't use the title of “District Manager”. ‘Regional Manager” is the equivalent role in our company. In the case that you are correctly referring to Equity, I hope you will reach out to Human Resources at 312-928-1184 to discuss your experience further so we can get a fuller understanding of your concerns and any issues you encountered.
