Pros

Good benefits, endless educational opportunities, ethical company, good job security. ERIE takes very good care of it's employees.

Cons

In IT, there is a high level of employee disengagement; caring too much gets employees in trouble with middle management, which is in direct opposition to messages from upper management. For this reason and others, organic innovation is impossible. Promotions are often unrelated to merit, but are more of a popularity contest or just plain nepotism. IT is not a great environment for women and minorities, and there is a stubborn resistance to acknowledging and dealing with the problem. In the last couple of years, we appear to have hired more Indian contractors in IT than we have employees. While this helps to get work done, it makes it harder for employees to advance, and exacerbates the problem with disengagement.
