Pros

Plenty of work to do and I am never bored. Management's open door policy is great and effective.

Cons

Many, many improvements needed starting with their complete lack of technology updates! The use of paper to track and follow shipments is so inefficient and ineffective. Very few employees with over 1 year of service (less than 10% of employees have been here for longer than 1 year) at the Denver terminal which makes it difficult at best to run the dock effectively. We are hemorrhaging staff because Estes isn't paying salaries on par with the cost of living in Colorado and is way below most other similar positions in the area and is WELL below the average cost of living in this area. Work life balance is also missing here largely due to the fact we are constantly working understaffed (see inadequate pay for area) which means the employees who are here easily work 55-70 hours a week and we burn them out and drive them away to other companies. For instance- this weekend is the 4th of July weekend and it is a 3 day weekend everyone has been looking forward to. Last night, after 7pm, I found out we will be working on Sunday for about 6-8 hours. Doesn't seem like much of a problem except for the fact it is right in the middle of our 3 days off so the whole long weekend is ruined. They waited until the Monday evening prior to the long weekend to let staff know. I have had at least 4 team members approach me already- 1 just isn't going to show up and take his chances on getting fired, 2 have to cancel reservations for the holiday weekend and lost their deposits on their vacations, the last guy is now looking for a new job and will be resigning. This is the 4th Sunday we have had to work in 6 weeks, sometimes we don't even know we are working Sunday until late Friday evening. The greatest part of all of this is management is salary. I work these Sunday shifts for free. The Aurora/ Denver terminal is faltering and rapidly deteriorating. Estes Corporate needs to LISTEN & IMPLEMENT changes rapidly to turn this operation around. If they don't, quality staff will keep jumping ship and we will not ever be able to keep this terminal from capsizing. Wake up and fix this huge problems or Estes will never be able to attract and keep qualified people at this terminal!

Pros

the pay is good and that's it period!

Cons

Vindictive management, you are not treated with any kind of dignity or respect and your always treated in a demeaning manner and always spoken down to by members of management the vast majority of managers just sit on their backsides and bark out mindless orders they do not communicate with lower level employees or provide them with necessary and vital work information such as shift & schedule details, management never accepts responsibility for their failures or miscommunication EVER! they will always throw somebody else under the bus even if they are completely innocent any wrongdoing whatsoever and will even go so far as to call you a liar straight to your face should you deny their claims against you and stand up for yourself when they decide to dump the blame in your lap for whatever issue they are having AND IF you stick up for yourself instead keeping your head down it won't be long before they run you out of there or find a reason to fire you or flat out make your job & life miserable any way they can! Favoritism runs rampant each manager has their own little clique and pets which is the cause for a lot of backbiting and creates a hostile environment, those pets i mentioned will deliberately go out of their way to be disrespectful push your buttons to get a rise out of you and even will go so far as to get you fired if they happen to dislike you for any reason, Technology is unreliable computers always crash and an error is made you will be reprimanded in a very demeaning nature by management for something completely beyond your control. Osha and company safety protocols are not enforced at all Managers do not train anyone even though they should they don't want to be bothered training is left up to other low level employees usually the manager little pet whom simply use training new hires as an excuse to slack off and wander around or hang out with their buddies they will treat you like are their personal servant and you will learn absolutely nothing from them Nobody performs preshift equipment checks even though its mandatory if something goes wrong part timers catch the blame for it. overtime starts after 55hrs not after 40 which is just a way to screw you out of money if your fulltime you will almost always work over 40 but not over 55 & since the you are payed every week the likelihood of picking up overtime is almost nonexistent but make no mistake you will work over 40hrs and run yourself ragged for no good reason and have no life outside of work
