Pros

You get to do work that is actually beneficial to people. The company culture is pretty good and the work is really interesting.

Cons

The career advancement track is shrouded in mystery and there seems to be a disconnect between Snr. Management and the work that's actually happening.

Pros

Lots of 5 stars here — but those stars are for the perks, the organic snacks, and the chill vibe. That doesn’t make a great work culture. The place feels more like a hip summer camp than a company.

Cons

People literally float through the day — coffee, chats, dog walks, a fun meeting... oh, it’s time for lunch, another coffee, a little work, then home. Too many have coasted for years, blocking out reality while congratulating themselves for “saving the world.” The culture rewards the “good students”. Immature work culture. It’s a very privileged crowd that preaches openness while blocking outsiders, confusing pretty mood boards with strategy. DEI is talk, not reality.

Pros

Overall, Etsy is an incredible company to work for. I have never worked at a company that seems to actually care about the well being of employees. Additionally, the ET is extremely transparent and open to feedback. You don’t really sense a lot of ego when you ask questions, instead they seem to embrace the curiosity and fervor from the employees asking really thoughtful questions. I have worked at many companies in my professional life and I’ve never experienced a company culture like Etsy.

Cons

While the pay is not competitive, there are other perks to account for this such as the benefits and company culture. The ET didn’t really know how to manage the massive and made some choices that were questionable. We are now having to deal with the negative consequences of allowing the platform to be filled with drop shipped garbage. As a result, the company is in a weird transitional state and not growing as much as our peers. The ET should be held accountable and given their outrageous compensation in comparison to regular employees. Also beware, there is a loud minority of employees who find any opportunity to complain about everything and anything. Coming from a non tech role in my previous careers, it really highlights the privilege and bias these individuals have as they don’t have experience working outside of tech jobs (also most of these folks have only worked at Etsy…) At the end of the day, this is a business and a publicly traded company. I wish some employees didn’t act like Etsy was a man adult daycare.
