Need to Unionize

Pros

Form a union and demand better treatment

Cons

The best way I can sum up my experience with eurofins was they made us take a quiz which included a true or false question. The question (to paraphrase) said something like "Eurofins takes advantage of recent graduates who don't understand their employee rights." And you had to answer "false" to pass the quiz. They know exactly what they're doing, and they know you know it too. And they can laugh in your face about it.

Pros

Good breadth of experience, good colleagues around, and it’s stops there.

Cons

Senior Management at the Hercules location is a toxic group of friends who make decisions based on emotions. If you’re not on their good side, it feels like you’re on a list. They don’t attempt to make any effort to help employees find their calling / niche within the business, it feels like set up for failure, sink or swim. One manager has particularly made many junior analysts cry and quit and no change seems to be made, she’s still around because everyone here is institutionalized 20+ years or are family . Pay is absolutely dismal for junior staff for living in the Bay Area, combined with all this, turnover is beyond the roof. And they seem to not care about any of this, just the inner circle of senior “leadership”. Response during pandemic has been as expected, barely any flexibility for WFH given during these tough times due to many job lay offs. How this location will stick around in the near future, beats me.

Pros

They at least take care of their employees with regard to public health concerns. Coworkers are nice. The job seems interesting but I haven’t been able to get much hands on experience due to the pandemic.

Cons

Wage theft. I was under paid on my first check and was told “oh yeah. Sometimes that happens” with no intention of fixing it. This is illegal no matter how small the amount. Crappy benefits. You have to pay a fee to add a spouse to your health insurance if they have a job that offers health insurance. So if Eurofins provides better coverage, there’s a surcharge of $50 because you don’t want crap. No company provided parental leave. If you’re having a baby, you have to figure out how to pay for 3 months of unpaid time off to take care of it. Kids are already expensive without losing 1/4 of your yearly income.
