Making memories with friends, making guest happy and making money at some of the most beautiful properties in San Diego. Some shifts tending bar out on one of the Sternwheelers I literally have to pinch myself to make sure it’s not a dream. Working at family owned hotels is much more intimate in the nature of things, all of us who work at Evans hotels feel a bit more connected than I would say at one of the big giant hotels chains. We feel more part of our properties and take more pride in our jobs I think because of the “family nature” that’s prevalent through all our hotels. This reflected in our service as well, when you stay at Evans Resorts your in a sense staying with “family” and it reflects in the way the employees feel like one big exstended family working together for the greater of the guests experience. Been very happy here for 35 yrs and going strong.

Cons

Loss of some benifits and company perks during the 2007 resession that were very appreciated and were great moral boosters. Things that brought the diversity’s of different departments of the hotel together outside of work which made it easier to work with one another when working for the common goal of customer satisfaction.

Working all holidays and weekends but I understand that in the hospitality industry. Banquet compensation perhaps more competitive... non contributing to employee 401-K
