Pros

- Remote - You can pick your own hours

Cons

They will ensure you are overworked, and the pay is definitely not worth it. No work-life balance. They offer a bonus, and HR will lie by claiming it's easily attainable, but it is not. The company constantly looks for ways to prevent employees from earning their bonus. If you want to get it, be prepared to work 12-hour days, sometimes even on weekends. There is virtually no opportunity for growth within the company. It’s just not worth the trouble. Lastly, this company is built on one big lie. They advertise to clients that the product is completely AI-generated and then expertly reviewed. That one gave me a good chuckle. The AI they use is terrible and doesn't work half the time, and the demands are 90% drafted by people who have little to no legal background. I've seen people with art degrees drafting legal demand letters. Even better, the management also lacks legal experience. Most of these people have no clue about personal injury claims. When the reviews mention 'sweatshop monkeys,' they’re speaking the truth. It’s insane that EvenUp is now moving its operations to India, building their main team there to draft these legal demand letters. I thought no legal background was bad...

Pros

"unlimited" PTO flexible work schedule

Cons

When I interviewed for the position I was told that the work I would be doing would be mainly proofreading and formatting. That is not true. The AI tool you are expected to use barely works and you will probably spend most of your time reviewing medical records and writing out the summaries yourself which makes it difficult to get your work done efficiently. You are expected to hit a weekly quota that is unrealistic. There were many times I was working late into the night and on weekends just to meet the quota. I had no social life. My team leader was very indifferent and I felt like I was bothering her every time I asked a question, but she would continue to assure me that I should ask questions. The reviewers I worked with were condescending and there was almost no uniformity on how they wanted final drafts to look. I would change my drafts based on the comments of one reviewer and then in my next draft, a different reviewer would tell me not to do those changes. I felt unsupported most of the time.

Pros

The trainers were nice. That's it. The office stipend isn't even a pro, considering you probably already HAD a decent home office if you were applying to a fully remote job.

Cons

This company is pitching itself as an “Iron Man Suit” for paralegals/legal drafters, and it’s really not. It’s a feudal estate full of hundreds of serfs (legal drafters, and they have given the serfs one busted Garden Weasel: a.k.a. their 'ai' demand generator, where 'ai' means "actively impeding", NOT 'AI', as in "artificial intelligence." The feudal overlords (management/squad leaders) then act shocked and incensed when the serf’s output is not, in fact, 900% - NINE HUNDRED PERCENT - more. That doesn't even pass the basic sniff test for AI productivity boosts based on MULTIPLE studies. Their solution to that problem is to add incessant nagging by squad leaders and management. Surely incessant nagging + busted Garden Weasel = 900% productivity boost, right? RIGHT?! (SPOILER: It only boosts attrition, not productivity.) AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE, unless you enjoy abuse while doing something that will FEEL, at worst, fraudulent and, at BEST, inefficient and incompetent. There is a REASON this place routinely has 200+ job postings for remote Legal Operations Associates (drafters), and it’s NOT because they are “a growing startup with rapid expansion.” It’s because it’s a horrible letter-writing sweatshop masquerading as software-as-a-service “ai.” People join, go through training, quickly realize it's a lie and bounce. In my training, several people asked, "How is this AI if we still have to review all the pages of the records ourselves and fix everything it got wrong?" On DAY ONE! LOL Also, I am guessing most of their customers are wholly ignorant about how their files are being handled. I think most would be livid if they knew how that demand-letter sausage was actually made.
